  • Session: Operations and Maintenance
  • Tuesday, September 11, 2018
  • 9:00 am - 10:00 am

As the software and hardware tools available become more advanced, including diverse options for intrinsically safe devices with more capabilities than the tools of the past, we can begin to augment the existing methodologies of inspections and maintenance with more modern approaches.

We will go over the current state of technology, including both hardware and software, and showcase emerging technologies that will dramatically shape the future workflows and efficiencies of the industry with regards to inspections and maintenance.

From new mobile devices that allow for far more functionality than past generations to brand new technology that is still 2 – 5 years away from reaching mainstream, such as augmented reality.

Included in this presentation will be a brief demonstration of making use of Augmented Reality technology to conduct a leak detection and repair (LDAR) survey utilizing a brand new product, which the skunkworks team at CNTRAL have been working on for a number of years.  This presentation is aimed to not only get people prepared for the future and how our workflows will change but also to get people excited about the future and the advancements that are coming.
